Oh! The joy two parents of a child have when they hear their sweet little angel utter the words, “Mama” or “Dada”! The love which was already so abundant seems to overflow and outpour from them into their precious ones’ heart! The baby babbles may seem meaningless to a bystander but to the givers of life, pure ecstasy.

Imagine the pain when a little one doesn’t even make any sound other than crying, tears being their only mode of communication. Imagine the heartbreak of a mother watching her child wail and scream, redden like a tomato, imagine the sheer helplessness. Imagine a fathers’ hand, grasping his little ones, yearning even for the faintest “pa” or “da”, the anxiety, the fear settling in.

Now imagine the extremes of happiness and be wonderment awaiting them, whentheir precious little angel finally begins to speak! Who do they turn to for help?

This is about the time a superhero flies in from outer space and saves the day!

Ms. Hamshi joined the Handimachal therapy program in July 2019

Our Speech Therapist, Ms. Hamshi to be exact, flew in like a ray of hope. She was able to conduct a workshop on 31 August, 2019 for the parents of the children attending our center, on how they will work together as a team, to draw out the words hidden so deep within their children. She shared with them visual examples on how effective speech therapy is, with a little cooperation, love and hard work. She spoke on a range of topics including the development of language and speech in infants, the importance of play and how parents can encourage and aid in therapy. Her presentation, rich with information, deepened not only the parents’ knowledge and understanding of their children, but also the entire team of staff present.

We look forward to many more such sessions and workshops, encouraging the therapists and parents to work together as a team, to fulfill the mission and vision of a better world for these precious little angels at Handimachal!
