The youth services and sports Association, Kullu, conducted the annual District Sports Festival for differently-abled children, on 25 November at Dalpur grounds. There were about 80 children participating in various competitions. The various competitive events were 100 meter race, 50 meter race, assisted walk, soft ball throw, skipping rope and Bocchi. There were mainly four organizations, who represented various teams: Handimachal Therapy Unit, Day Star School Manali, National Association for the Blind (NAB school) and NAV-Chetna school.

Representing Handimachal were Taanvi, Bharti, Sagar, Sunli, Rishab, Umesh and Kartik.

Tanvi and Bharti bagged the 1st and 2nd positions in 100 meter race and Sagar bagged 2nd position in 100 meter race.  They will now go in the next level, representing Kullu District for State Level competitions to be held on 3rd December, on the occasion of the World Disability Day.

Rahul, from Day Star School bagged 3rd position in 100 meter race.

Such events are good to bring together the different organizations working for the differently-abled to share, connect and facilitate the positive work happening in the disability sector. Children get a platform to showcase their talent and a conducive social exposure, which help them gain confidence.

We now looking forward to the state level competitions, our young athletes are all geared up to start training.

Thank you everyone for taking these kids beyond their limits, with special gratitude to Marine (who has now finished her APA volunteering mission in Kullu and will go pursue new adventures in India before going back to France).
