To all the friends and supporters of the Handimachal project, I wish you a very happy, healthy and prosperous life in 2011, may all your dreams and projects become reality in this world.
All my gratitude to you who have helped us establishing the basis of a better life for the disabled children of Kullu district, with a special mention for Evert Veldman, Mr. Pieter M.A. van Berckel and his foundation (from Netherlands), Beckie and Oliver Homan (in the UK), Catriona Helliwell and her friends on the Isle of Eigg (somewhere off the Scottish West coast), the WFOT for helping us in finding OT volunteers, without forgetting my colleagues and the partners of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, the French volunteers and donators who will get their special thanks on the French blog.
I would also like to send special thanks in India to the local people who have participated in raising the Handimachal Kullu Therapy Unit from nothing: our team in Kullu (Kanica, Ajay, Kieran "auntie" - and of course Yub Raj Negi (we miss you Yub Raj!) and Hem Raj Thakur), the people in HPVHA Shimla and particularly Mr Narender Sharma, Mr Ramesh Badrel and Mr Kashmeer Singh our accountant, who might not always fully appreciate my stressful requests...
I will be in Kullu again at the beginning of March, to welcome a new OT volunteer and say goodbye to Catriona. It will also be time for us to analyse our progress after two years of operation and study how we can further contribute to the future of disabled children of Kullu district.
